chinese alphabet

This year's Spring Festival, have you picked up a pen to write Spring Festival couplets and the word "福"?

Many people appreciate calligraphy, but don't write, because they always feel that chinese alphabet is "mysterious" and daunting.

In fact, calligraphy education is not mysterious, but it is true that we need to practice hard. Just like practicing vocal music and learning to sing, students need to study and train carefully under the guidance of correct methods and theories, and practice basic skills well.

To practice the basic skills of calligraphy, you must first understand the three elements of calligraphy: brushwork, structure, and composition.

Element 1: Brushwork

What is brushwork? In short, it is the method of writing with a pen.

Chinese calligraphy is mainly represented by lines. To make line stippling rich and colorful, you must first pay attention to holding the brush, and master the method of weight, speed and speed, deviation and straight line. This is the so-called "brushwork".

To learn calligraphy, learn the brushwork first. The so-called Lintie, the "lining" is the "brushwork", and the "imitation" is the "structure".

How to practice "penmanship"? Calligraphy education teachers will directly mention such an important concept when they first teach students to write brush characters, which is called "Yongzi Bafa". Yongzi Bafa is a method used by the ancients to take the word "Yong" as an example to analyze and explain the eight basic requirements of regular script.

Eight methods: Side (point): The point should take the sloped potential. If the point becomes sideways or upright, the dementia loses momentum. Le (horizontal): The potential is inclined in the horizontal orientation, and the force penetrates vertically inward. Dragging horizontally or leaning down is fatigue. Crossbow (Vertical): Vertical painting should adopt an outward and straight trend. Vertical painting should not be too straight. Too straight is like a dead wood scene, although it is straight but has no strength. 趯 (hook): First the mighty front, then quickly pick up the pen and attack along the way. Ce (Ti): Body is mostly used on the left side of a character, with its momentum slanting upwards to the right, while the right corresponds to stippling, forming the interest of bowing to the back. This word is used slightly flat, mainly corresponding to the short on the right. Sweeping (skimming): The line pen is gradually accelerated, sharp and flexible, but the force must be sent to the end, otherwise the float will not be stable. Peck (short skimming): The line pen is fast and the nib is sharp, while the long stroke is different. 棔 (捺): Regular upward strokes. Although there is cohesion, the shape is outward. When writing, reverse the front and lightly downward, and the front slowly downwards and then sinks. The upward momentum at the end of the microstrip is required. Calm and powerful.

Of course, practicing the "Yongzi Bafa" is absolutely not enough. "Yongzi Bafa" is just an inference for beginners, and it can be inspiring to practice pen and calligraphy, but it does not include all the content and skills of calligraphy.

Element 2: Structure

Character structure, that is, structure, also known as frame structure, is the arrangement of strokes. The structure is reasonable, and the font shape is beautiful.

A calligrapher once said: In calligraphy, the brushwork is the cloth, and the structure is the cut.

Our judgment is also the quality of a piece of clothing. To a certain extent, it can be said that enterprises in China are all determined by the fabric, but we can also say that tailoring plays a very important role. A piece of clothing, no matter how good its fabric is, if it is not cut properly, one sleeve is long and the other is short, then it is a garment that is prone to failure. Calligraphy is the same.

The structure of each character has its general artistic rules, such as the density of stipple contrast, length combination, and thickness contrast, but there is no formula. However, there is a basic rule, which is to grasp the word "center of gravity".

Mr. Chairman of the Chinese Calligraphers Association introduced in "The Beauty of Calligraphy" that the center of gravity of a character and the center of a character cannot be at the same point.

Take the word "big" as an example, as shown above. If the center of gravity and center of the word "big" is at one point (the word "big" on the right), it is symmetrical but rigid, like a computer character, lacking some dynamic changes.

The center of gravity of the character "big" on the left in the picture is on the left, which is more in line with the characteristics of the font structure and more beautiful. In fact, the essence of the center of gravity is the distribution of quantity, which should be different, but visually, it achieves a dynamic balance.

Element Three: Rules and Regulations

What are rules?

To use an analogy, the rules and regulations are like the design and research plan before building a building. If the plan is unqualified, it cannot satisfy the construction. Therefore, before writing an analysis of a work, first of all, we should be more familiar with the main content of the work, and make a general development plan according to the number of words and the location information of the signature, so as to be confident.

There are usually calligraphy works. Although the brushwork and structure are very good, the overall layout is not considered, resulting in a bad impression and disorder. Therefore, generally speaking, calligraphy can be said to be the "front" of a calligraphy work, and it is the first impression and important criterion for appreciating a calligraphy work.

The basic requirement of composition is to achieve appropriate density and mutual correspondence, and its function is to express the melody, rhythm and emotion of calligraphy, giving people the enjoyment of beauty.

Therefore, calligraphy works cannot be simply plagiarized, but must be based on the character collection, with the help of brush strength, ink color, peculiar structure, echo of stippling, and style contrast, to show the author's cultivation and sentiment. If the writing method of the article is average, uniform, copying, without layout or density, no matter how good the number of words is, the effect will be dim.

During the Spring Festival, you might as well put down your mobile phone, pick up a paintbrush, and immerse yourself in the strokes of calligraphy quietly, so that you can relax your spirit in calligraphy and return to inner peace.

People who like calligraphy education, take time out, practice a lot, and keep developing.

For those who don’t know calligraphy, pick up a brush. It may not be of any real use, but learning the mind through calligraphy can cultivate the heart and patience. Isn’t it also a kind of enjoyment and tempering?

Why do Chinese writers use a right-to-left compass?

According to one view, it depended on how the language was historically recorded. As most people are right-handed, it was supposedly easier for the right hand to write characters by moving from top to bottom and right to left while the left hand controlled the paper when the ancient Aian language was written on a bamboo scroll.
